Creating a Framed Document

Demo Page

Step One: First select Split Frame Up from under the Modify Menu, / Frameset

The document will be split in half. The top and bottom half each represent a different HTML page.

Step Two: Place your cursor over the dividing line and move it up to create a narrow banner area at the top of the page

Step Three: Now, let's create the Menu area. As with Step One, select under the Modify / Frameset and select Split Frame Left. Then, move the dividing line over to the left side. You should now have a page which looks like this.

Step Four: Now, open the Selection Properties menu. It will look like this.

Also, open the Frames window under the Window menu

Step Five: Now, you need to name each frame. Do this by clicking on the particular window in the frames palette, then type the name in under Frame Name. Call the larger window, Main. Then go on to name the thin window a the top of the page Banner, and the last one, Menu.

Step Six: Now, select each page in the frameset by clicking once, then selecting save from the file menu. Do all three HTML documents which are going to be displayed in the frame. THEN, and only then, select Save Frameset and save the parent document.

Step Seven: Now build your pages inside of each frame. Once you've completed the layout, you can adjust things by using the selection properties window along with the frames palette

Step Eight: If you click on the frame border in the frame palette, you will have control over a larger part of the frameset. Here you can further adjust the borders.
